Air Products

Our commitment

We are committed to making cross-border heavy duty transport with hydrogen trucks a reality. Our plan is to develop an interconnected hydrogen refuelling stations network covering main logistic corridors across the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) in Europe.

To materialise this ambition, we are building large scale, state-of-the art and future-ready hydrogen refuelling stations for heavy duty vehicles. They feature refuelling options at 350 and 700 bar and are designed to be scalable for planned capacity increase, or for the addition of liquid fuelling to follow market developments.

At Air Products, we are dedicated to being one of the key players to deploy the 600+ hydrogen stations mandated by the Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation (AFIR).

Our HRS Projects

HRS Ghent

Ghent, Belgium - The arrival of a zero-emission mobility hub on the Ghent site is another milestone and provides an answer to the transport sector's demand for more infrastructure and charging solutions. The mobility hub will be built in collaboration with Milence – the joint venture for charging infrastructure between Daimler Truck, the TRATON GROUP and the Volvo Group – and the world leader in hydrogen, Air Products.

HRS Zeebrugge

Zeebrugge, Belgium - Air Products has signed an agreement with Aers Energy Belgium for Air Products to develop a hydrogen refueling station for trucks. The agreement will help Aers Energy België operate a concession in Zeebrugge, which it was recently awarded. The project involves the construction of a new secure truck stop in the port of Zeebrugge operated by Aers Energy België, with a rest area, a mini-market and a restaurant, where it will also be possible to fill up with hydrogen.

HRS Hürth

Hürth, Germany - Air Products and Stadtwerke Hürth have signed an agreement to build and operate a new hydrogen refueling station. In addition to Stadtwerke Hürth's buses and garbage trucks, it will also offer third parties the opportunity to refuel their hydrogen-powered vehicles. The refuelling station will be designed in such a way that hydrogen can be refuelled at a pressure between 350 and 700 bar. Air Products will not only build the plant, but will also be responsible for its entire operation, including the supply of hydrogen.

HRS Wetter

Wetter, Germany - The first freely accessible hydrogen filling station in the Ennepe-Ruhr district is planned in Wetter. Near the Volmarstein motorway junction, the waste management company AHE, the energy supply company AVU, the industrial gas company Air Products and the mineral oil distributor Orosol are planning a refuelling facility for trucks and cars. Renewable and low-carbon hydrogen is considered a climate-friendly alternative to gasoline and diesel for commercial vehicles and public transport. To this end, the hydrogen is to be "green", i.e. produced with electricity from renewable energies. As with other hydrogen filling stations, it will be delivered in trailers.

HRS Rotterdam

Rotterdam, The Netherlands - This project is in cooperation with the Port of Rotterdam to create the largest hydrogen refuelling station in The Netherlands, initially supplying three zero-emission trucks from Air Products, Schenk Tanktransport and other early hydrogen adopters in the Rotterdam port area. Air Products will supply and operate the refuelling station in the Botlek area and supply green hydrogen in an efficient and safe manner, while Schenk Tanktransport will use the trucks for its daily logistics operations. TNO will monitor the entire project and use the insights obtained for the further development and application of hydrogen in heavy-duty road transport.

HRS Tarragona

Tarragona, Spain - Carburos Metálicos, a leading company in the industrial and medical gases sector in Spain that is part of the Air Products Group, has acquired a plot of more than 10,000 m2 on which it will install the first hydrogen station open to the public in Tarragona. The project contributes to the promotion of H2 for mobility, one of the strategic lines of the company that since last year has been carrying out refuelling and supply tests with buses with its 'Hydrogen Route' that show that this 'zero emissions' mobility system is already a reality. These and other initiatives place the company at the forefront of hydrogen mobility in Spain.
